Windows 7 Student Mac OS X FAIL
People know me as an avid Apple fan, and I think people were quite surprised by all my chat of Window 7. I have to say though, I was genuinely excited to get my hands on Windows 7. After the epic failure that was Windows Vista, I knew that Microsoft would have to come back with something really good.
They delievered.
I can’t deny it - I like Windows 7. It runs amazingly on my iMac, and have very few problems when using it, but getting the thing onto the computer was an epic adventure!
As I am student at the University of Dundee, I am eligible, as are all UK & US students, to receive a discounted copy of the software. For a mere £30, I was downloading Windows 7 in no time. Little did I know that I had in fact downloaded the Windows ‘Download Manager’. Snow Leopard + .exe = FAIL.
Over the following 4 hours, I had to redownload Windows 7 onto my flatmates Vista *shudder* laptop. I thought that was it. But no. Microsoft didn’t provide an ISO. They do it with all their other download able software (Expression Studio demanded it!), so I had to find some abscure snippet of code online, run some command window *windows n00b*, and eventually download MORE software just to burn it to a bootable disc.
After that I had to then Install, then REINSTALL Windows before it would actually accept my Product Key.
All the hype about the operating system, then an epic failure as they try to deliver to the Microsoft Dev’s of the future. Smart one.
